About
Hi, I’m Tasha Goddard and I’m addicted to creating fun, colourful images!
I’ve been drawing since I could hold a crayon and I have always loved pattern. Before I started school, even, one of my favourite pass-times was colouring in Altair Design books with my trusty tin of felt-tip pens. I doodled my way through school and university, making cards for people at Christmas and on birthdays. I bought bags and notebooks and dresses covered in beautiful patterns in bright colours. I poured over books full of ornate designs – William Morris, Paisley, Liberty prints… And always I drew and drew… lots of black and white floral doodles, Zentangling before Zentangling was a thing, swirls of gold and silver, filling the margins of my notebooks with flowers and geometric patterns.
But not until a few years ago did it really and truly dawn on me that people made their living doing this. People make their living from sitting drawing and painting and playing with colour and layout in Illustrator and Photoshop. Wow. And I knew that’s what I wanted to do.
I’ve always used drawing or painting as my way of relaxing – a lot more so over the last few years. If I haven’t done some kind of drawing, painting or designing in a day, I feel wrong. And if I go more than a couple of days, I get jittery. But it’s very rare that I don’t manage something, even if it’s just a little doodle on a shopping list, a few snatched moments with the sketchbook and pens I keep in my handbag. But now, I’m doing this and people give me money for it. How amazing to have something that gives you such joy, and have it also put food on the table, a roof over your head (or a few beautiful dresses in the wardrobe!)
My style features hand-drawn icons and typography, often with a layered look. I am drawn to geometry and symmetry, as well as flowers and bright colours. Eclectic, bohemian and a little whimsical. My aim in all my designs is to bring a smile to lots of faces.
This site shows some of my newer designs. Feel free to browse and have a read of the blog and come back to look at the new designs I’ll be adding regularly. This is quite a new site at the moment, but I’ll be putting new patterns, placement prints, illustrations and typography up as and when I create them.
